SDG134: Bach Cantatas Vol.6 (7 Oct 2007)

This is the latest in SDG's recordings of John Eliot Gardiner's Millenium pilgrimage, when he set out to perform all of Bach's surviving cantatas on the liturgical feasts for which they were composed. Here, we have reached the 12th Sunday after Trinity, which Bach marked with a trio of joyful cantatas, all thrillingly performed here, with alto Robin Tyson and organist Ian Watson on particularly fine form. The second CD takes us to the following Sunday and altogether sterner, though no less impressive music, all played with commitment and good taste.
